6 Tips For Summer Decluttering

When you are doing your summer decluttering make sure you take some time to declutter summer clothes.

It’s so easy to take a few minutes to go through and decide what clothes you want to get rid of and what clothes you would like to keep.

An easy way to keep track of what clothes you have worn and haven’t worn is by turning the hangers around backward.

Then, once you wear the clothes you can turn the hanger around the right way.

At the end of the season, you get rid of all the clothes you didn’t wear.

If any clothes don’t fit donate or sell them. I have found that having clothes that don’t fit me just takes up room in my closet and can be very frustrating.

Keeping only the clothes you love and wear help keep your closets looking clean and organized.

Declutter Sunblocks And Sprays

Most of the time sunblock lasts for about 3 years, however, some may expire before then.

Don’t get a burn this summer by using old sunblock. Take a few minutes to go through last year’s sunblock and sunscreen.

Throw anything out if it is older than 3 years. Check the expiration date on the sunscreens too to make sure you aren’t using an expired sunscreen.

It only takes a few minutes to clean and declutter them but can save you from getting a sunburn!

Declutter Grilling Accessories

Now that summer is here it is grilling season. We usually grill 3-4 nights a week this time of year.

While you are using your grill and all your grilling accessories take a few minutes to go through them.

Anything you don’t use make sure you donate or throw out. Last year I started a drawer in the kitchen just for our grilling tools and I go through and declutter every summer.

It helps keep the drawer clean and easy to find everything that we do use. With just a few minutes, you can make grilling out in the summer easier and more enjoyable.

Declutter Crafts and School Supplies

With the kids home from school now is the perfect time to declutter any craft and school supplies you have around the house.

School papers, crafting supplies, and other junk have built up all year long.

Throw out any trash or papers you don’t need from your crafting and school supplies.

Donate anything that you will no longer use. Teachers will love any school supplies that are still in good shape.

Then, take a few minutes to reorganize everything so it is easy to use all summer.

Plus, you can also take the time to make a list of school supplies you will need for next year too. Your school and craft supplies will be decluttered and you have a jump start on buying back-to-school supplies.

Declutter The Junk Drawer This Summer

No matter the season it’s always a good time to declutter your junk drawer. Take 15 minutes to clean out the junk drawer and organize it.

I am always amazed at what trash or expired coupons I can find in my drawer.

Test out your pens and throw out the ones that don’t work. Get rid of trash and put away things that don’t belong in the junk drawer.

It only takes a few minutes to clean it out but you will feel much better once your junk drawer is cleaned and organized.

Decluttering and organizing isn’t a one-time task. By slowly decluttering each season you can help keep your home organized and decluttered.

Taking the time for summer decluttering will help keep you consistent with the decluttering process.
