To start, add about 1 and 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol to the container. Then, add in 15 drops of lemon essential oil followed by 15 drops of lavender essential oil.
To make the wipes I took 10 paper towel squares and cut them in half so I had a total of 20 “wipes”.
Then, I placed them in the canning jar with the solution and put the lid on the jar.
If you are using a wipes container you may not need to cut the paper towels.
Give the container a few shakes and make sure that the paper towels get soaked by the rubbing alcohol solution.
That’s all you need to make the homemade disinfecting wipes.
Once you have used up all of the wipes you will probably still have some solution left in your container. If so just cut up some more paper towels and add them to the container.
Suggestions
I would suggest if possible to use 71% rubbing alcohol if you can get it. I have found that is what is currently recommended to kill off the viruses going around right now.
Also, just like with the store-bought bleach wipes you will want to be careful what surfaces you use them on.
They work great on most kitchen and bath surfaces but I would be careful before using them on wood or other surfaces. Always test in a small inconspicuous spot before using the homemade disinfecting wipes.
Also, you can make these more eco-friendly by using scraps of fabric, like an old t-shirt would be great.
Skip trying to find cleaning wipes in the store and instead make your own with these easy to make homemade disinfecting wipes.
Homemade Lysol Wipes
1 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol
15 drops lemon essential oil
15 drops lavender essential oil
Paper Towels
Container or Canning Jar
