An allergy test should be the first thing you should do if you are a new user and want to do it yourself.
To do patch and strand tests, apply the dye to some strands of your hair (somewhere hidden and close to the scalp) and apply little to the back ear.
After that, wait for about 20 minutes; if nothing strange happens, Kudos, you are good to color the full hair.
2. Prevent Dye Stains
Yes, this is super important. The majority of the hair color freaks I meet on social media complained sincerely about the staining aspect of splat hair dye.
I want you to get ready for this and prevent it from happening;
So here’s what you need to do before bleaching and coloring;
- Cover your workspace with paper or old towel to prevent staining.
- Put on your old t-shirt and pair of hand gloves and
- Protect your hairline, ear, and neck with vaseline or oil ( Do this when you want to apply color)
2. Bleach Your Hair
The next step is to bleach your hair. If you don’t want to lighten your hair, you can skip this step.
But keep in mind that dye color is more vibrant on bleached hair.
So to bleach your hair, you will have to mix the oxide (liquid Lightner) and the powder (lightening bleach decolorant) very well.
The next thing is to apply the mixture to your dry hair, make sure you keep an eye on it until it lightens your hair to the shade that you want. (30 minutes maximum)
After that, rinse it off and dry your hair.
However, you do not need to bleach your hair every time you want to color your hair, or your hair will break off and get damaged.
Also, make sure the bleach does not touch your skin because it hurts and burns.
