HOW TO TURN A DUSTY OLD APARTMENT INTO A LUXURIOUS ABODE

Your style is your style. Start by visualizing your dusty old apartment. See it in your head then bring it to life. You don’t need an interior designer for this. Your old dusty and dirty apartment is relying on you to make it into the perfect cozy luxurious home.

OLD TO RUSTIC

Being that it had an old feel to it. All the fixtures and cabinetry were rustic looking. For this, a modern contemporary addition would not be the best style if you’re on a low budget. Save your money to buy furniture pieces to fit your planned design.

Keep it rustic, keeping it rustic will let you spend less. Focus on blending in rustic wall decors to highlight the pale paint on the walls.

ADD A TOUCH OF COLOR

When dealing with old wooden floors go- bright- with- covers. If you search on Amazon for rustic rugs you’ll find beautiful area rugs, accents, and runners with bright colors to add a touch of radiance to the old wooden floors. Blue, orange, and green are colors to think about. These are sure to make your apartment look and feel luxurious.

If you have a coffee table already simply add a rustic decor in the center, just that will do. Place this centerpiece in a bright-colored area rug to highlight the decor. Flowers in a wooden vase will work just right. It will be just adding a more stylish old feel to the apartment.

For me changing my tv stand was the best thing I could do to go the extra mile. I went ahead and purchase a rustic tv stand for just $288. This covers 95% of my living room makeover. It’s amazing how just a single piece of furniture can change an entire room.

If you already have a sofa go ahead and add a throw blanket. Shop for cute little cushions with nice words on them and place these on the sofa. You’ll need an end table at the side of your sofa.  Place a rustic lamp here. Lanterns are a perfect choice for something made from wood.

ACCENT PAINTING

If your landlord will allow you to change the color on the walls then take this privilege to add your favorite color to one side of your living room wall and bedroom wall. If this is not allowed simply go ahead and hang beautiful wall decors. This will go a long way in making any old home look better.

RUSTIC/VINTAGE LAMPS

These are cheap, but look luxurious, elegant, and expensive, and will give your home that exact feel. This can be placed on your nightstand and in the living room. Lanterns or hanging lamps are highly recommended for a rustic look.

ENTRANCE DOOR DECOR

If the front door is old, repaint it. Then hang a beautiful wreath with some funny words. This will give visitors something to smile about. Chose a beautiful entrance mat and your entrance decor is done.

COVER THE OLD FLOORS

You may not want to spend on refurbishing the floor of some else’s home. The best thing for you to do is to cover the damaged area of the floor with rugs. Rugs are cheap and come in different colors.

Rugs can be placed on carpets too to cover the dirt and make your flooring festive. To learn how to clean old hardwood floors check out this amazing article..

WALL DECORS

Keep the wall decors coming, not excessively but in areas facing the main door, behind the sofa, and above the tv. Led lights are a popular home decor and are suitable for rustic settings and modern looks. These are so cheap and can be purchased online.

CLEANING UP A DUSTY OLD APARTMENT

1. Before doing all the above it would be best to clean the apartment. Start by dusting and cleaning the walls removing visible soils and marks. You may not have the time to clean all the walls in the apartment so this will do.

2. Grab hold of a duster and dust the surfaces such as countertops and cabinets, then wipe with soap and water.

3. The bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen are the first areas you should begin with as they are the most needed.

4. Clean the floor, for wooden floors simply double wipe with warm water and murphy’s oil soap. For the tile floor, a little warm water and white vinegar will do.

MAKING SPACE

As I mentioned before about the small cage-like closets. Definitely, I will be needing a lot more space. In this situation, you’d want to thank the inventors of space savers.

Space savers are a good way of making space in your home. Place all your extra stuff in these and see how much better everything looks. Space savers can be used in your bedroom, kitchen, dining room, and bathroom {over the toilet}

HIDDEN SPACES

Your hidden spaces are underneath your bed and on top of the cabinets. Place anything you need for storing in these hidden areas and save you some needed space.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN

Anywhere can be a home. Maybe your situation is different from mine but wherever you are start today by visualizing your cozy abode. Take that vision and bring it li it by using cheap decors and your creative mind.

Just in case you’re wondering, my apartment is the love of my life, I just love my new luxurious apartment. I also love the excitement of my visitors and their wonderful compliments.
